Production Targets

Your group has been on such a fantastic journey this year and your efforts are bearing fruit.  Make sure you are video blogging production choices and stages to evidence your progress - plus this will help you in the run up to the exam in order to be able to reflect on your technical choices.

Progress Target Setting

In order to complete our research and planning we need to have completed our day 2 of filming, which we are in the process of doing, we need complete the documenting on the production post and complete a plan for each of the days for filming, they will all go up on to the blog very soon.

In order to complete production task trailer we need to complete filming the last parts of our trailer which are a few scenes and re-film some of the dark scene and record the voice over for the beginning and add the non-diegetic sound over the top of our trailer and that should take 2 weeks for us to complete to create the final trailer.

Production Targets

Make sure that you use sound in the most precise way - can you add diegetic sound effects if needed to make some of your shots and moments more dynamic and build on the continuity of your editing?  A really good production so far - use titles in a precise and controlled way to work beyond your target grade here!  Well done!

Update on titles

During our editing we found that our original title doesn't suit our trailer as it was more convention to a fantasy film, so we decided to use photoshop to create a new title, by adding an eye looking out of the wall with the tear and we thought that this would be a our base of title and we played around with the brightness and contrast to creates a moody effect and starts to show the personality of the antagonist. Then changed the font of the title by going on Power point and using the wordart tool and then deselect the background of the title as we thought it would connote a mirror which is see through allowing to show the audience that the antagonist will be following the protagonist all through film and this would be reflected in title giving hints to the audience. we then transferred the title to Photoshop and we enhanced the outline of title to make it stand out more and we increased the size of the title so that it fits the middle ground and would fade in with the background of the picture.

Documenting influences on production

When planning for our production, we gained influences from other horror film such as Sinister, Paranormal activity, the conjuring. The director which we were most influenced by was Ciaran Foy as we thought that they way he presents horror film with his interpretation of his films such as the sinister and the squeal that continues with it. We thought that the way that his horror film were based at home or local area, as this is something that we can achieve making sure we adhere to the convention to a horror film trailer. Also the idea of how he presents clues in the film gave us an idea of how to create hints to the audience producing enigma codes which would allow the audience to be drawn into watching the film further. We also liked the way they presented the storyline by showing old photos of the past allowing the audience to gain a sense of idea of the background of the film and it prove the sense of it being based on a true story, making the audience more intrigues to find out how this film re-tells the film.

Final soundtrack

Welcome to horrorland

For our trailer we have decided to put together a few soundtracks as we thought it would better as blended quite well with some of the scenes that we had filmed. We also found a new sound track called 'Welcome to horrorland' we thought that it would be a good piece of non diegtic sound as we thought it contributes to creating more tension. We also thought that track would quite effective as it helps to build tension throughout the film as we have many enigma codes which are created for the audience as it will start to scare them.

Bent and broken

We had originally choose this soundtrack to use in our film as we thought that this one is the best one out of the ones we had look out, as we thought that it a great track which would help begin tension for the audience and a section we be quite useful in which was the birds which we thought we could use in order to show more of a mysterious look to our forest.

Making Film title

When making our title for our film we decided to name the film 'SNATCHED' as we thought it would suit our story line of our film. so we tried out some of the styles with that name, but then we decided to change it because we thought it would suit better with 'STALKER' as we though it would be better as it the style that we have put with the name of the film would suit better as the connotations associated with the forest with the reflection showing that there is something following the protagonist around, showing a direct connection between them.  For most of these titles they were created on Powerpoint using the wordart tool and selecting the forest to be place inside the text. The first title we used wordart and choose a a font which we changed to, which is called the book antiqua in the font 72  and we decided that it was going to be placed on a black screen. We thought that we would have a black screen for all the titles as we thought it would contrast well with the overall theme of our trailer as it is a horror, it would create a hidden effect. Then the second title we decided to experiment with having a reflection and this was the stage that we change our title of the film as we though the forest being hidden inside the forest would create mysterious look and makes it seem that there is someone spying on the protagonist and the audience from the woods and so this allows to create the atmosphere of which creates an obsessed antagonist being after the protagonist. Also with this title we decided to add a curve to it and we did this by editing it by using the change the text effect to a more curvy look, as this would suggest that this antagonist is very powerful and can get control of the people that it wants. The reflection of it suggests that it can manipulate other and again shows it strength. However we thought this film title was bit too wide and thought it wouldn't fit well with out trailer in terms of composition, we we thought that we wouldn't use this title.

The third title we decided to not use the curve and just have the title in a straight line, as then we can fade it in and out when putting it in our film trailer as we think it would look better with reflection revealing it slowly to the audience the title of the film. When creating this title we used the font called Bodoni MT Black in the font 72 and we thought that this would be a suitable font because when putting the forest inside the text, we can can see it better and it would look more prominent in the trailer. However we thought that title still lacked something and the outline colour just made the overall title very dull along with reflection. Then we experimented with outline of the title and we first used different sades of green to see which one would suit better, but when using the outline, It just camouflaged with the forest being inside the text, then decided to go for a more vibrant colour such as oranges and yellows and we looked at what would give the title a better contrasts so we then went for a bright orange which we though would suit best for the title of our trailer, as it creates a bold vibrate appearance of a our title, alongside of the reflection being added, which highlights our antagonist showing that it will be a dominant character in our trailer
Then we decided to have the same theme to introduce when the film will be out, as this is an important element to a trailer as it informs the audience on when the film will be released, but we have specified so have on the bottom corner of the screen putting the hashtag and the film website so it allows to keep the audience updated and aware for a more specific time of when the film will be released.
During the trailer there will be a lot of cuts to leave enigma codes to the audience about what happens in the trailer. During this will have the directors from the lost locket to inform the audience about what other films we have done as it may cause some familiarisation with it.

DAY 1 of FILMING

Update on script

Due to change of our ideas because we were short on cast and so so the script had been been shorten as we thought the non diegtic sound that we are going to be using will be used for majority of the trailer and then we decided to change the script during filming by choosing a section which was:

Rebecca: We have to go check this out!
Emilia: (Hastily) I don't think that's a good idea Becca.
Rebecca: Only because you are a scared! Come on Lottie, what do you think? We need to find who this person is!
Emelia: mmm... I don't know...
Rebecca: Right! This weekend then?
Emelia: yeah.

This will form a small section where the two sister will have the conversation on investigating about the antagonist, and this will allow the audience to follow along with the protagonist and her sister giving them an over view on on is happening in the trailer.

Storyboard

Making production titles

File:Adobe Photoshop CS4 icon (2).pngWhen making the production titles we used the software called Adobe photoshop. On this software we choose a picture and we decided to create the production titles for our film trailer. We have decided we will be adding two production titles along with a black screen with introducing the directors names. This production title we have created was with the camera reel and we just adapted it slightly by using the blurring tool to blur the edges of reel, giving a softer effect to the overall production title. We decided to make the image smaller so that we have a black boarder, which would help to give a contrast of the image. The production titles are important within a trailer as this allows the audience to recognise who produced the film and show acknowledgement for it.

We then decided to put the image from photoshop into the Adobe premier elements 10 where we are putting together our trailer. When we put the image into this software we were experimenting with the different effects on the photos. We came across this effect called the line drawing and so we added this to one of the film reel then added additive dissolve for it to fade into the original image so it shows a transition of the full production title. When adding the name of the production title we were playing around with where to place the title in order find the best place for the title with the film reel, so we decided to put it on in one of the coils of the reels as it seems apart of the overall title. We used white capital letters, so that the title will stand out on the overall production title.

The second production title that we have choose to called the 'Voyage Productions'. We used a a boat sailing on the sea and making a black and white copy and adding additive dissolve to it would fade from black and white to the original colour and we made it smaller as we thought it would suit better with a thicker black boarder as it would look contrast better in our trailer.  The font that we used called Adobe caslon pro in size 50 in capital letters and we have placed at the centre of the screen as this will allow the audience to grab attention towards it as it will be one of the first things that they will read in order to know who produced the film.

Costume for our film

The 4 main characters will be females who will be wearing casual outfits for the majority of the trailer. These four pictures show some ideas which we might put together to make the characters look like teens. All characters will be wearing either jeans or leggings because these are known for being casual. All tops will be baggy for a more casual effect. We may have to add coats to these looks because some filming will be done outside and therefore will be cold. All these outfits still look feminine which is what we are after so that they seem more innocent. Each of these outfits also seem a different style as the one with glasses seems like geeky and the one with pearl earrings seems girly. These will be comfortable for filming in for the actors because we are keeping them casual. Each of these outfits may be altered so that we do not have to buy any more clothes, which will therefore mean the cost of this trailer will become more expensive.

This black hoodie will be used for the antagonist, along with black leggings and black shoes to make the antagonist seem hidden and harder to see. This will also enable us to hide the character in the woods more effectively. We will have to go out and buy this hoodie because the actor does not have just a plain hoodie, but these are not very expensive. This outfit will still remain casual which will therefore mean that the actor will be comfortable whilst we are filming.

Final makeup for our film

Here we have practised the make-up tutorials on both the antagonist and the girl who is being possessed, in the first few minutes the antagonist (Hayley)  is getting ready, as we put the white face paint as the base of her make-up as this will create a pale dead look. As we have seen from the YouTube videos as we researched into different make-up tutorials which we could possible use in our trailer. The photos in the right hand corner, showed the final outcome to the antagonist's makeup. We have slightly adapted the makeup from what we saw from the Youtube as we have added to it to make it more dominant and we will show up on the camera as well. So by this we have added the black face paint under her eyes to create a more bold vivid look and would show up well on camera as there will be a close up shot of her at the end, and we thought that the additional face paint as we thought it would create a more memorable image to the audience. For the other character we have mixed red and black face paint to create bruising around the eyes, to to signify that the antagonist has got hold of her and started to possess her. We thought that we would put the red as it signifies death and create a threat to the audience when watching as it shows the capabilities of the antagonist. However we could of added white face paint in order to make it more realistic for the camera and creates more of a connection with the antagonist as the white face paint create a dominant look in the trailer.

Change in idea

We have decided to slightly change our ideas as we were short of cast members, so we have though that we can still have the same idea, but instead of having four friends, we have changed it to two sisters who go go camping and start to explore about the antagonist which the old lady talks about at the beginning of the trailer. We also have our antagonist (Hayley) which her part will stay fair the same. but instead we will have one of the sisters being killed by the antagonist and photos have been taken of her to show to the protagonist, making her more eager to find out more about the past of the forest. In the trailer there will be a flashback scenes with both the sisters together exploring, and will show how they experience difficulties in finding out about the antagonist who tries to cause harm to them. So the protagonist will be looking at the phone through the pictures rather than three girls being worried about the girl who was killed by the antagonist. So after one of the sisters has been possessed by the antagonist it will leave the protagonist on her own, and we thought that this would be a better idea as the camera would be able to focus on her, allowing the audience to follow along with her as she will alone with the audience, which will create more tension for the audience.

CONSENT

Location of our film

We went out and took some photos of the location of which we would be intending to film in. The first two photos are of the forest, which were taken inside. We thought that these two areas would be a good place to film with a bit more low key lighting. We also liked the overcrowded tree branches and sticks, this allows to create a more depth atmosphere creating more intensity as this would start to scare the audience at the beginning as we intend to film some establishing shots of the forest. Also we will be filming the group of friends or pair of friends exploring to find out more about the film. This would adhere to the conventions of a horror film as this would start to set the scene which would build tension for the audience as horror film would have some sort of forest element to it to start to scare the audience.

Then we took a picture of the tree that we are going to use to show one of the girls being missing. We thought that this area would be good place to film because it has leaves hanging from it and its also inside the forest, so it can seem more realistic of which shows it will complement well with our scene we film our film trailer as its quite hidden and overcrowd as it will create some tension for the audience leaving an enigma code about where this place is. This would be our scene where the missing girl would be tied up to shown in the photos on the phone. So this tree would be suitable for our trailer as it will go well with our storyline and would adhere to the conventions of a horror film as the tree will show used to cause threat to the characters and the atmosphere will start to scare the audience. However we would need to add some leaves on the ground to leave clues for the girls when they go and investigate and find a dead body. The leaves would allow to create an enigma code to allow the protagonists to go and search further so this location would suit our genre of our film  as there will be blood as well here connoting danger and threat. We also got a long shot of the location of which we have decided to put the tent up, we thought that it was good area as it was quite spacious and we would be quite good to film a long shot or a panning shot to show the location to the audience which would complement well with our non diegetic sound.
We have decided to film in a living room, as this will be the place where the girls will be staying. We would have to change the layout of the living room, by moving the coffee table so creates more space, also we would move one of the sofas forward so we can shoot a panning shot of when the women is talking about the past to the girls. We would adapt the lighting at night when as this would show the most energetic part of which the antagonist would come and start to annoy the girls and a lot of tension would be created which would complemented with non-diegetic sound.

We also took a photo a bottom of a wardrobe, clearly we would clear out the space which would be used for the antagonist area when it makes an appearance into the trailer,as it would only last for a duration of 2-3 seconds then the camera would cut out leaving an enigma code for the audience and will create a scare for audience. We will be putting one of the possessed girls inside there as well which will come and chase the others as it under the control of the antagonist, so we thought that this location would be a good idea as it an unknown area which lead to having something unexpected happening. We will be filming along the stairs as this would be our main area for the chase scene. We thought that this would be a good place to film because there are corner which would create a small division when the chase scene happens between the girls and the possessed girls.  We also decided to use this small entrance found further way from the forest as this would be used as part of the chase scene. We thought that this would be a good place to film as this entrance look would seem unexpected to the cast as they will have no choice but to go through, but will also show a division between the antagonist and the protagonists.

Props

We are going to be using the tree as a prop when the first character is laid against it where they are dead and at the end where another character is hiding behind the tree. This is a good tree to use because of the fact it is quite narrow and therefore can see what is happening both sides. We may have issues with this because of the background showing so much light but can easily be resolved by changing the time of day which we are filming. The camera we have has got a flash on it so if needed we can add extra light to our filming and improve the quality of the footage. The tree is situated in the woods where we are planning on filming.

The use of this pink camera will be shown when the characters are filming their video diary, which will make the film look more realistic and as though it is a true story. We are using this camera because the quality is slightly less that the camera which we have got for our filming in other parts. This is because the audience will be able to establish the difference between each footage. The characters will be using this throughout the trailer. The only problem which may occur when filming on this camera is that the lighting will be dark and there is unfortunately no way of brightening this until we come to the editing process.

We have a circle of angels which will be used as a feature in our film, especially when it comes to the part of the old woman telling the story to make it seem as though she is spiritual and holistic. The use of the angels seems common in horror films as a way of protection against evil, but somehow it always seems to occur. These angel ornaments will be shown in pictures, with added effects on it so it enhances the features on it. Angels will be used all of the living room of the house where the characters will later be sleeping because of it being in the same household of where the old woman will come. This is used again for protection against the antagonist which they will later discover does not actually work. Both of these ornaments will be used in the trailer through the use of photos.

This prop will be used at the front of the woods to show that it is unsafe and hints to the audience that the woods should not be entered. The cone is slightly broken which makes it seem more chilling as it is something that might have happened before which ended badly. The cone will represent danger, abandoning and scary which are all common in horror trailers. The characters will ignore this, as they are females in this they are usually quite innocent and run into danger, which

Researching makeup tutorials for the antagonist

We have researched into different tutorials which we could use for the antagonist for our trailer, our aim is to look for a very bold and memorable visual image allowing the audience to remember the antagonist through hints in our film. We look up tutorials on YouTube and picked our top two video which will use to show the one of the friends being possessed and the antagonist. From these tutorials we will be trailing them out to see whether they would be suitable for our film trailer.
This make up looks quite effective because if we used this one in the woods, it would stand out. The black eyes makes it look like a horror film as it is creepy. It is something which is achievable because face paint is relatively cheap. The eye make up looks challenging but also like it does not need to be perfect, therefore making this an easy look to achieve. Instead of using white for the clothing, we would use black to make the character hidden but also easy for the audience to see. The white will suggest pale dead look, suggesting it will be an aspect of being lifeless this would be suitable for our film as it will it being preserved in one area where the friends will go and investigate suggesting it will craete some suspense of this represenation leading to the antagnist going after them. The only part of this make up that will be slightly expensive will be the contacts as these are usually around £7 but our group will be able to split this price up to make it cheaper. This tutorial would be a good one to use for the antagonist because it will create a old vivid image for the audience to remember as the white face paint will stand out, and the contrasting of the black and white, can make our film as this may be the unique selling point of the film as this may scare the audience making them more intrigued about what to expect from the film.

This make up looks good for the part where the protagonist becomes possessed because of the white contacts and the dark eyes. This would be quite easy to achieve because of the way the make up looks messy. The use of the fake blood means that it would be affordable and again it uses white face paint and red and black eye shadow. The blood can connote self harm, unexpected, as she is being controlled by the antagonist. Along with the pale skin suggests lifeless showing the power of the antagonist and its capabilities. This means that it is basic but still looks as though we have put a lot of effort into achieving the make up look. The dark hair will stand out from the make up because of how pale the face is. If we wanted to achieve this look exactly how it looks, we may have to buy a black wig but with Halloween near, it will not be hard to find one for much money. Also this would be good tutorial as it will show a partly transition of one of the friends who get possessed, showing element which will be identifiable to show some human features so that the audience can recognise her but in some different light from changing into possessing the others.

Representations women in the horror films/ Our representations

Horror films started in the early 20th century , the roles and representations of women in the genre have hugely developed , with many films both traditional gender roles and contradicting them. As almost a century has passed, the way women are presented in Horror films has varied from the different stereotypical girl in need of rescuing, to women fighting back against the monsters plaguing them. Generally horror films women are seen as sexual objects to entertain the mostly male audience. Laura Mulvey’s ‘Male Gaze Theory’ shows that the camera is ‘male’ audience attention and used in such a way to present women and make their role in a film to being something to look at, not to be listened to, or taken seriously. This shows that the representation of women in Horror Genre has developed over the years since the ‘damsels in distress’ in the mid 20th century, presenting women  as the ‘weaker’ and less powerful of the sexes, sometimes leading to their deaths.

Women were also presented as the victims, but a different kind of victim. They were targeted as victims of their own bodies. Films such as “The Omen” and “Rosemary’s Baby,” the female body portrayed as evil. "The Exorcist" are other examples. As women of shows the representations of their bodies as a source of power and beauty, horror movies showed they were still a source of guilt, shame, and evil. This shows that women are the ones who get possessed but shows an impact in there ordinary lives.

The representations that will be shown in our film will include a group of girls were discover that one of there friends will go missing and this will be a female who will get get killed, this adheres to the stereo types as women will be target as the ones to killed and will be possessed in order to be under control of the antagonist in the film. Women would be presented as innocent and gullible suggesting that they will be the main target for the film for the antagonist as it will seek revenge and will use women who are stereotypically presented as weaker so are easier to target. In our film it will be one of the girls who gets killed then another gets possessed as slowly, the friends will separate due to the control of the antagonist. However we will be showing at the beginning where the female protagonist being quite curious and will investigate into the past of the location of where they stay and will camp out in that area, as she will be doing video diaries to keep the audience updated about what they find. This shows that the female protagonist will show a curious side to know more about the past, which will trigger the antagonist to target her. Then we we will be having an old women talking about the past, educating the female protagonist and her friends, and alerts them not to do anything that would put them in danger. Which then the female protagonist and her friends will investigate further. This shows that they subvert some stereotypes as they will be more eager to find out and shows more confidence with in. Within our trailer there will be a lot of fast past scenes showing the antagonist being after them, suggesting there fear of knowing that the antagonist is around. This will show that women will be dependant on someone else to help them, adhering to the representations as women will be reliant on someone else for there safety.

The main protagonist, Shay, researches this story and finds that the woods is near her. She will then keep to herself until one of the characters notice something different in Shay and they find out what has happened. They will then start planning a camping trip to the woods where 2 of the characters will be hesitant to go and the other 2 will be willing.

They then attend the woods where they set up their tent and camping equipment and the 2 willing characters head into the woods to investigate the story which they have heard. They will then hear strange noises, such as crows, snapping of wood and distant screams. They will laugh it off and continue to look around the woods. Using a torch, they will be looking on the floor where they will see a cap, and want to look around for where it came from. They will find a hand beneath leaves and find a dead body. When they wake up, the character who found the dead body is missing. All their clothes have gone and the only thing which is there is their phone. The characters then see a photo on the phone and each time they flick through the photos, they see the character being killed. They then run back into the woods and find the character in almost the same place as the last body and then get chased backed to the camp site and pack up everything. The antagonist will be hidden and watch where they go. They all go back and stay at Shay's house. Match on action can be used as they close the door and lock it.

They will all go to sleep on the sofa's and on the floor and when they wake up, Shay has gone too, but the characters hear muffled screaming where they find Shay locked up in a cupboard. They antagonist will be in room where she is and threaten the other characters. They try and save their friend and when they do the antagonist will be angry and chase them back to the woods where one of the characters will be hiding behind a tree, thinking that she is safe when in reality, the antagonist is behind her and grabs her mouth to keep her quite.

The last character will go back to the old woman where she tells her what happened. The old woman will use cards to tell her what happens next and if she is safe, and as she turns them over, they are all negative and will end on her saying "Charlie, you're next!"

From what I have read from the pitch, I will be able to adapt to the character it is quite casual and I am familiar with this area, as horror film are my favourite types of films to watch, so I am able to know how to act in order to help adhere to the conventions.

Who is favourite actor? Why?
Leoenardo dicapro – main influence able to hold different emotions which fit the genre. The great gatsby- jay gatsby is able to show different hidden emotions, which creates enigma for the audience.

In a horror film, what characteristics would you expect from the protagonist?
From what I've read from the pitch, I would expect the protagonist to the dominant, confident and fearless character. As she will be the one who faces problems with the antagonist.

Summary:
Fahmida will be good for this role because she has had past experience with acting in which she has been involved with drama for some time. The acting experience which Fahmida has had is she was in a school production where she maintained the role very well. She has thought well about the character who she will be playing as she will portray her natural characteristics showing a casual role in the film trailer. If there is a problem then we will go over the script and do a practice run through so that she will know what we are asking her. she says "Leonardo Di Caprio is her favourite actor because he is one of her main influences. He is able to put himself in character which all demand different characteristics which fits within the genre. In 'The Great Gatsby' his role as 'Jay Gatsby' was played well in my opinion as he was able to hold different emotions and be able to hide some to create and enigma for the audience in the beginning of the film." Fahmida expects the protagonist to be very dominant and confident as she is fully aware that the antagonist will be after for her. This shows her awareness of the characteristic expected by the protagonist as her favourite genre is a horror so she knows well about the conventions.

Cast Interview 2 : Fahima Akther

We interviewed our second actress who will be starring in our film and these were her responses:

  1.  Why would you be good for this role?
It is a casual role and I can in cooperate my personality with the character role to bring the personality of my role to life and make it convincing for the audience.

  2. What acting experience have you had that will help you with this role?
I have previously volunteered to play minor character roles in school plays.
  3. Have you considered how you could show the character successfully through your body language and voice?
I would have to be casual and approachable, meaning my body language has to be open to show a kind, caring friend. I'd have to respond to the other characters, as though they are my real friends to create a realistic impact and effect for the audience to make it convincing.
  4. Who is your favourite actor? Why?
Shailene Woodley and Jennifer Laurence are my favourite characters because they take on significant roles in the films "Divergent", "The fault in our stars" and The Hunger games series. Aside from acting, they are genuinely kind and inspiring people, who don't allow social media to impact their view of people and the media and social society.
  5. In a Horror film, what characteristics would you expect from the protagonist?
You'd expect the protagonist to be: timid, afraid and curious.
From her response we can see that she will be a good role in our film trailer as she understands well about what the character she is playing is going to do, and how she would adhere to it. As the interview showed that she would would include some of her own personality into it to make the role more comfortable for her, but we may instruct her in different way to adapt this to make it suit our film trailer. she has past experience in acting, as she has volunteered in school plays, doing small parts. By this it will expand her acting experience as she will be given a much bigger role allowing her to develop her skill within it. As we have discussed about the film treatment with her she understands about her role and knows the key features to it which is important that they understand how to act in order to adhere to expectations of a horror film. We then asked about some of her interests and her favourite actors which include of Jennifer Laurence and Shailene Woodley as they are actresses that she aspires to through there films. One of the most important questions which we asked were about the characteristics are expected in horror films, she replied with timid, afraid and curious which shows that we will be showing some consideration when it comes to our film trailer as these are convention to the protagonist in a horror film.

Analysis of our initial ideas questionnaire

From the questionnaire we found out that the most popular idea which attracted the public eye was idea 2 which was the friends go away for a camping weekend and do some investigation on a past story on a haunted house and decide to camp in the forest to solve this mystery, with a flash back to show a a dead body. This shows us a direction of which would help us choose which idea to focus on in terms of actually creating it and doing further development to make sure it suits the wants of the audience. When it come to us making the decisions of which idea to do we will be taking in consideration of the audience feedback from the genre questionnaire and from this special ideas chosen by the public. However the other two ideas have had a split 30% each side, suggesting that some of the ideas may have trigger the audience's mind, but we may put together some ideas to make a new idea, showing development of an idea according to the public. Its important that we take in consideration of the public's ideas of film trailer as they will be the one who will be consuming them and we should make sure we include any feedback we get from them.

The second question was about asking the public about how to improve some of the ideas shown and some of the responses were:

"Idea 3 - The double act can become one character at the end focus on a mental illness, also have detectives being involved in the ghost hunt."

"Idea 1 - Personal diaries should reflect protagonist feelings, as she is different from the rest of the family, shows a more close link to the audience"

"Idea 3 - Use a newspaper article to show the visual history that is well known to everyone"

"All ideas - All show old photos to show a reflection from the past, gives more background information about the film makes it more real life."

"Idea 1 - focus on a small family, maybe have a child that is possessed to be involved"

"Idea 2 - Have an old women being involved in telling the story of the past"

From this I have gained some other ideas which are completely different from what we thought our a group, as they show other conventions of a horror film, this shows that there responses are based on stereotypes of horror film and from there own experience of what would make a horror film trailer better. These alternative ideas will be considered when choosing which idea we should do as this gives us more ideas to help develop an idea to create it better for the audience's viewing.

The third question was about the music in which they would expect to hear in a horror film trailer and the responses included of :

" spooky", "something that builds tension", "mysterious music", "upbeat/heart beating music""sharp"
From this is shows that the non diegetic sound should include of a dominant sharp piece which will indicate that it is a horror film and this is an element which is most important when it comes to creating a horror film trailer as this is what will contribute in scaring the audience which will intrigue them into watching the film. This will be something to consider when it comes to making our trailer as these element all meet the conventions of a horror film and we will take these ideas and we will research into soundtracks which will complement our trailer.

The fourth question we asked was about the location of the film and we gave the public some option of some of the ideas that we came up with and decided to keep some closed option as this would be more suited for us but we have left some open option for them. From the pie chart the most popular response was to film in a haunted house, this is because most horror films are based in haunted, empty houses and this suggests that this what they expect as this will build tension for them and it has more connotations which are associated with ghosts and can show a better storyline with the past with the house as it will be one of the important aspects which will be introduced to create tension and will intrigue them to find out about the history of the story behind it. Also 30% of people thought that the forest was also another place for a horror film to take place as it make it makes it more like an investigation and shows a way of the antagonist of appearing into the film. The least popular setting was the park, this shows that they may not prefer it as a place for a horror film, as it may not interest them as much it does in a haunted house more goes on in the house rather than the park. These ideas will be consider when filming and planning for our film trailer as it is important to get a good location in order to create a trailer which adheres to the convention of a horror film trailer.

Lastly we asked about what the antagonist's costume and the bar chart shows that the public would like us to focus more on the make-up of the antagonist as its one of the features which will scare the audience and will have a memorable image of it through out the film. Also the black outfit was another thing that the audience wanted to see as it would contrast well with the make-up making it stand out to the antagonist face. This idea will be used to create this image that will be memorable to the audience.
