The trailer begins with the productions title put together. This is important within a trailer as it it shows the audience who created the film, showing acknowledgement for it. Also the diegetic sound of the chains rattling suggests that that something unknown will be revealed, which could be dangerous in the film, which allows the audience to get insight into what the film may be about. Merantau film is an Indonesian marital arts, which has been written by Gareth Evans. By having this allows to show a cultural storyline, where it is set in another country. He is known to have won the jury award in 2010 for best film at the Actionfest festival. By having a well known writer and director allows him to be experience with this particular genre, so having this will show that he will know what his audience interests are. The genre for this film is an Action film, as the generic expectations would include of weapons being used, intense fight scenes, the location would usually be in a modern city, also with lot of car chases. The male protagonist, would typically be muscular and strong, which would show his strengths of defeating someone, which would be the antagonist of the film. The audience in which this is aimed at is for males aged between 16-30 as the usually be interested in this particular genre, as its quite energetic and fast paced which would keep them entertained for a while.
Then the chain sounds continue as it them stops to silence suggesting a prison setting suggesting it may show a past story of the male protagonist as he is helpless and the silence reflects he has no one to support him, which the audience can feel sympathy for him as doesn't have any help. We cut to an over the shoulder shot of the male protagonist inside jail, suggesting that from it will show shown sort of flash back to the past and allows the audience to be apart of the experience and see from his viewpoint what there is in side the prison. The background shows a sketch of a silhouette on the grey/black walls, suggesting a dull, and miserable setting and reflects the male protagonist attitude and emotions, as the white silhouette suggest that it could be an enemy, which may show that it could be something he has plans for. Also shows what he is against so having the drawing can allow him to think about what he want to do. The toilet on the right hand corner , which is quite dirty, unsanitary which suggest the facilities in the prison is not great but shows it meets the needs for every person. The low key lighting complements the attitude of the male protagonist making it quite dark and gloomy, suggesting that it not the ideal place to be spending there life there, as it shows a waste of time for something bad the male protagonist has done and is now something he is having to repay for what he has done which is in this prison. Then the camera cuts to a close up of the protagonist, where the camera blurs out the background and focuses on him. This is effective as the audience get an insight to what the protagonist looks like as the bruise on his face suggests that he may have been involved in a fight, where he may have got hurt. The camera focusing on the protagonist expression as he feels helpless in something he could have been successful. This intrigues the audience knowing what the back story of him being in jail and how he ended up like this, so they would have to watch on to find out.
Then we cut back to a over the shoulder of the male protagonist, as this puts the audience with him and will be following him throughout the film, so will be sided with to find out how he got to this place. Then the non diegteic sound of the high pitch horn, with intense breathing as he gets up and walks towards the silhouette, so the camera pan tracks him as he walks suggesting that he is going to do something to the silhouette. This suggest that it it shows him taking step which could lead to a plan or start to reveal the story line of the story and creates tension for the audience as it starts to show some back story as the silhouette is a significant figure which will be the main focus in the film. Then we cut to a medium shot of him coming face to face with the silhouette, suggesting that the male protagonist may use this to image enemies he would want to fight. Then he starts to punch the wall, making it look like he fighting with the silhouette, and shouting at the same time suggesting that there may be many antagonist, who the male protagonist will image to fight, suggesting that he is letting his anger out on the wall whilst thinking that its actually someone in real life, suggesting that he may have a mental problem and so being able to take it out on a wall, will help him relax a bit. As he is starts fighting the camera cuts to show a close up of the another character who looks like he has been in a fight and as got bruises on his face which are very deep and dark red, The red suggests danger, shows he has been hurt through this fight, However this illusination shows that the male protagonist is imagining the state of certain people he wants to seek revenge on. With the other guys facial expression with the low key lighting shows that these bruises hasn't affected him mentally, and so his facial expression shows that he is still confident in targeting his enemies, along with the lighting suggests this is darker side of which shows his confident which may his strength. The non diegetic sound of a drone noise become more intense as he is punching the wall more, suggesting the anger is building up in the trailer reflecting the mood of the male protagonist as the audience feel apart of what he going through, and would most likely to side with him if they watch the film.
Then cuts back to the male protagonist punching the wall, then cuts to a long shot of a dark room with a man sitting in a chair, with a red lamp shiny in the background, with the camera slowly panning in. This suggests that dark room may suggest it is a secret room where his enemies are most likely to meet up. The red light suggests that its a place where it will put anyone in danger if being put in this place, The long shot of the man sitting with his legs crossed and is wearing suit, however with his suit could suggests he is part of another team, and looks like he is being manipulated by someone, so there could be someone else involved in this mission and would be a enemy to the male protagonist. This is effective because it allows the audience to get an insight of what the film is like and shows them who the male protagonist targeting to seek revenge at. Then the trailer cuts back to him punching and then cuts to shows a man look for something in a forest, suggesting that there mission may involve that it would impact a specific town showing that he may be look for clues, which may help with there mission. The adheres to the conventions of a action film as someone will usually find something to help them fight there enemy, so it it against them. Then cuts to shows a man on the left hand side of the rule of thirds holding a bat and aiming directly at the audience. Direct mode of address is effective as this allows to hint the audience on how what this character is going to do in the film, so the bat represents self defense on himself and will have protection on him, on anything that may come at him. This adheres to the convention to a action film because using weapons will allow to defend the protagonist or cast in the film and so the audienc would most likely be watching this film as this allows them to be left not knowing why they are fight and what is causing it. With the low key lighting, with the empty room with him wearing all black clothing suggests that he may be on his own battling this fight, and showing that he may also be undercover for someone so protecting them from him and someone else.
Then as the non diegetic sound becomes more intense and fast with the fast pace editing as the prevalence is mostly held by the man punching the wall, as the camera always cuts back to him fighting more as the it shows his anger increases so does his intensity showing his frustration with these types of people and shows that the audience will be focusing on him throughout the film. Then we cut to another medium shot of a women wearing sunglasses with her in train. he facial expression looks like she is being manipulated by someone, so being controlled by someone, with the blood suggesting danger as it could reflect how the male protagonist wants to hurt these people. The glasses show a pattern from the man and the women as they are both wearing them and look emotionless suggesting they are apart of the same mission.

Then the trailer continues to cut and forth showing medium shots of different people, that he may want to get revenge on. However this medium shot of a man who is wearing a suit as he smiling with the background showing a a group of people suggesting that he may be one of the antagonist which he want to fight, however he has been represented as more upper class and holds more power so has a lot of capabilities, which would show the audience what this man can do as he is confident in what his plan. The background has low key lighting shadowing on the people behind him suggesting that they are people don't have any control over themselves, and the man at the centre wearing a suit have people to help him fight this side of the battle.
Then the trailer becomes more intense with the music as fight scenes occur as there are gun shots, car chases and the music builds tension as the fast pace editing becomes intense as it starts to show the plot of film being shown, giving the audience an insight in what is included in the film and so it being quick leaves quick hints to shows the male protagonist view on how he wants to get back at these people and allows to show who he is targeting his anger at, which would attract the audience as these are all conventions of an action film. The camera cuts to the man in jail and he stops punching the wall and is breathing quite heavily, with the medium shot him being quite worn out suggesting that this mission will be a difficult one to solve. The low key lighting on one side of his face with the other side being suggesting that there could be hope in him being able to battle this fight with all these people.
Then the camera blacks out to show a low angle shot of the white silhouette on the wall with the slight dent in the wall with blood stains, suggesting that this silhouette is going to something important to focus on as it shows where the male protagonist may be putting his thoughts and anger on to so the audience may see it a lot and would remind them of him as it will show who he is targeting at, which could be the antagonist. Then the title film, fades in at the centre of the silhouette, as this is important that the audience know what the film is called, and is a convention of any trailer. "The raid 2" has shown in smaller font whereas "berandal" is in enlarged font suggesting it could be part of a series of films, which allows to show a storyline of different film put together. The white font connotes innocence, suggesting that it may the refer to the male protagonist as he not be apart of this but just be part of the blame of the plot. The title has been placed at the centre of the frame as this makes it the main focus when watching the trailer, as it will catch there attention being informed about the name of the film
Then the camera cuts to shows a release date for the film, however, it still to be confirmed exactly when they can go and watch the film. This is a convention of a trailer as it is important that they know when the film is going be released, as it will memorable for them in capital letters, making it alerting in there minds. Then the trailer ends with the production titles in small print, as this shows acknowledgement for who created the film.
