Film trailer 1: Jurassic World

The trailer begins with a green screen introducing the audience to the film from the rating outlining that there are different trailers suited for different audiences. Then we are shown an establishing shot of the the location of the film, allowing the audience to get an idea of where the film is set and also gives them an idea of the genre of the film. The genre of the film is an action/fantasy film, so the audience will have set generic expectations of the film. The locations of the film is set on an island, and we are shown this through as the camera pans to reveal the location of the film. This is effective as it starts to hints the expectations of the film as the location shows us that the film is based in tropical area, so withe palm trees and the bright lighting connotes the atmosphere begins in a positive situation and may start to change as the film progresses. The non diegetic at the beginning starts off as quite sturn along with the dinosaur making noise, this implies that the audience get an insight in who will be in the film. It also suggests that it seem as if these dinosaurs are being controlled by someone. We then immediately cut to a medium shot of the back of man, who looks like is in charge of these dinosaurs, as the camera positions him in the middle of the frame, this shows the dominance of which shows how much power the man has got over these dinosaurs. The voice over is then introduced with the male protagonist, speaking about what he does and what he has to do with these dinosaurs, and gives the audience an insight of how he controls these dinosaurs. The camera cuts again and the audience are shown a close up of the male protagonist, complemented by an point of view shot from the perspective of the dinosaurs shown as the male protagonist looks directly at the camera, and this connotes that him staring at the dinosaurs can manipulate them into doing what he wants them to do. His body language shows that as he has his hand up, suggesting that he is trying to give a a direct instruction to the dinosaurs, The male protagonist has been represented as a leader, and this is conforms to the stereotypes of action/fantasy film trailers, as it will show the protagonist will have some sort of lead in film of something. After the voice over has ended, the dialogue is introduced as the male protagonist says "stand there", which is also complemented by the close up of him staring at the dinosaurs suggesting that he is leader of these creatures and with the imperative show a strict instruction for them to follow. The camera the cuts back to the back of the man at the same time the camera pans about 30 degrees allowing the audience to establish the relationship between the male protagonist and the dinosaurs. The relationship shows a composed relationships which the audience will see as the man controls these dinosaurs and has a lot of power over them. The voice over then continues and we are cut to show a medium shot of one of the dinosaurs, the  we encounter a shot reverse shot where the man is still looking directly at the dinosaur, trying to control them. A long shot has been shown of the man and the three dinosaurs, this shows the man body language shows his capabilities of controlling these dinosaurs. The sturn non diegetic sound continues the fades into a black background and the voice over continues with man talking about these dinosaurs and how he deal with them.

The next scene is then fades in with a high angle shot of man talking about the dinosaurs to a women, this suggest that what he may think about the dinosaurs may be different to what other people might think of them as it shows he can build a strong connection between them. We are shown an over the shoulder shot of the women listening to the what the man has to say. This suggest that the high angle shot present dominance and in this shot, it presents that the women takes more power and control of him, which subverts the stereotypes as women are usually shown as weak and innocent, but here it shows her in suit. This represents her with higher status, her suit represent that she holds a lot of authority. We then cut to long shot of the dinosaurs in action in the forest running towards something, the dark lighting which complements this short scene gives the audience an insight on how the dinosaurs are like, as they are running fast showing there fast capabilities in which can scare the audience.

A tracking shot as been used to allow the audience to follow the dinosaur in there adventure through the forest, and this allows the audience to experience being part of a the trailer as it starts to hint them in what to expect when watching the film, so they will feel apart of the film. The Stern non diegetic sound and the sound of the dinosaurs are present throughout the trailer as it allows the audience to be apart of the experience when watching it, this is effective because it allows to start building tension in the trailer, as something dramatic is going to happen. CGI has been used effectively for the trailer as it contributes to the stereotypes of what is expected in a action/fantasy film, as there will be unnatural characters and props used in the film and this something that the audience would be expecting as they would expect unnatural characters. props used, will allow a twist to occur in the world as it this unusual for this to happen, which may interest this type of audience watching this.

We then cut to the production titles for the film, which allows the audience to be aware of who has created the film. The production titles all come in at the same time, so they are not separated, but its quite quick with the fast pace editing and the non diegetic sound which is also complementing the titles, this suggest that the tension starts to build with the music as it connotes fear for the audience as they will expect something dramatic to take place in which will start to reveal parts of the plot with the action. After the titles have been shown the camera fade into the another long/establishing shot of the location, and this shot is effective as it shows a busy, crowded area, showing the popularity and shows a huge interest in coming to see these dinosaurs, and this shown through the bright lighting, allowing more people to be attracted to going to see these dinosaurs. However the non diegetic continues throughout the trailer and builds tension, suggesting something dangerous will happen, when the audience least expect it. The camera zooms into the location into then cuts to a field area where is dinosaurs running around, this allows the audience to establish the setting of the film. Cross cutting occurs as there are different scene where there are crowd of people watching the dinosaurs in action at different times. This suggest it shows the huge attraction of these dinosaurs cause a lot of interest to the public. A female voice over is introduced, as she introduces the public and how it is increasing the attraction for viewers to come see the dinosaurs, this is complemented with medium, and close up of a lot of crowed people, this connotes popularity for this attraction. The editing is quite fast pace and the shots come out quite quick into the next frame, which also goes with continuous non-diegetic sound, combining all of these elements allows build tension for the audience, as it seems as if there's something that wont go right, so it makes them more alert when watching the film.

We then cut to a close up of two children from the crowd and the camera zooms in and makes them look as if they are going to be some of the main characters which the audience will be seeing more frequently during the film. The crowd of people are shown in the continuous frames, suggesting the popularity of seeing the dinosaur as it fascinates them. the dialogue of one boys saying "that was awesome" just adds to the popularity of these dinosaur and being really keen on seeing them. The trailer teases the audience in on what to expect when watch this film including characters and setting, gives the audience and insight what what to expect when watching the film. The female voice over continues and the camera fades to show more of long shot of the exotic location giving more hints to the audience about the habitat of where these dinosaurs live, then fades into a close up a science laboratory, giving the audience an insight on how these dinosaurs evolve, and this allows to educate the audience and to find out more about them. We then cut to a medium shot of the two children in plastic ball which travels with the dinosaurs, allowing them to experience being with them. then the male protagonist starts to narrate, suggesting he gives advise as he more experienced with these dinosaurs. We then cut to a scientist talking about a specific type of dinosaur, the dialogue "bigger than the t-rex" suggest that this dinosaur is going to cause more trouble than other dinosaur do, his facial expression is shown through this as he had stern awake eyes, connoting seriousness and can connote danger and fear from what this dinosaur can do. The narration continues as we get a close up of the man touching the scratch mark on the wall, which starts to build the fear for the audience and the non-diegetic sound becomes more tense. The quote " what happened to the sibling" suggests that this dinosaurs is fearless and unstoppable for what it does, the man wonders what has happened and the cut quickly to the next frame. We get a close up of the next frame of the women replying with "she ate it" and stares through the window, this starts to creates tension for audience has the fear and danger starts to happen.

The next two frames starts to show point of view shot of the dinosaur in action along with camera tracking it at the same time with the face pace editing, this shows that dinosaurs holds a lot of power and strength and allows the audience to be part of the experience when watching the trailer. This conforms to the conventions of a adventure, fantasy film as the the use of the CGI creatures being part of the main props of the film, taking lead shown in this film with the dinosaurs. We then see a cut to a black screen introducing more producers of the film, this gives the audience more information about who made the film. Then next frames shows side medium shot of women driving really fast whlist on the phone seeking emergency and starts to create more tense moments of the trailer which the audience will be expecting. Then there is sudden flip of emotions as the next frames show fear from the public running out of the attraction area, this suggests that this dinosaurs is fearless and emotion more physically strong. A birds eye view shot has been used to show the city, where the crowed people are running from, showing the size of the dinosaur and its viewpoint on how much power it has. At the same time the music is at its peak point as this dinosaur get out of control and the music completely stops and blanks out into the next frame where are are people looking for the dinosaur in the jungle, this shows the change in location shows the power in which the dinosaurs has, the non diegetic sound of the siren connotes a full search for where this dinosaurs is, then we get a close of the the tracking device found in the jungle, then cross cutting occurs back to the search room which the colours used in the lighting are dark blue, connoting a safe and secure place for people to be in.  Back in search room a high angle has been used to represent weakness for the man as this dinosaur get stronger and unbeatable, then we get cut back to the forest with a close up to one of the search men's arm and there is a drops of blood connoting close danger and something bad will happen and its quite close by. Then he looks up and the high angle connoting innocence and weakness as the man gets attacked by the dinosaur and then the non-diegetic music comes back on and complements to fast editing. We then cut to a point of view shot of the man being dragged through the forest, the black faded shows that he either being eaten up by the dinosaur, this allows the audience to see some of the peak points of the film giving major hints on what happens to everyone, then it suddenly cut to black screen, suggesting his power can defeat everyone in that town. A medium shot and two shot has been shown of the man and the women, where the composition of the women is standing behind the man with her hand over mouth, suggesting her tension and her fear on that the other dinosaurs are dead. The composition of this two shot conforms to the stereotypes as the women is more hidden and seeks more protection from the man as she is standing behind him. Then a long shot of the field with all the dinosaurs there, allows the audience to sympathise for the other dinosaurs and shows the capability of what this particular dinosaur can do as is strong and powerful. We then get more closeup shot of the two boys being attacked by the dinosaur and see action of what this dinosaur get up in the city. Then a black frame giving the audience the date release for the film, and this notifies them to be alert when to use it. The font used to show the date is placed at the centre with the blue stencil writing in bold, this shows that it make it memorable for the audience, and makes it more significant for the audience for it being there main focus. The next few scenes shows a long shot back to the front of the attraction where everyone is running and the narration telling the audience "20,000 people" suggesting how many people are at danger of being killed. The editing continuous to be fast as this add to the tension and the fear of which this dinosaur is creating with it physical violence. We then get a medium shot of another guy saying that "we don't have enough guns" suggesting that there tactic are not working and this dinosaur is not defeated, and make them look weak, suggesting they don't have hope in fight this creature.

We then cut to a new scene where the lighting is very bright as its a night scene where the man who is in charge take lead of trying to defeat this dinosaur, and tells the others to do it his was, this was shown through a close up, emphasising his strong emotions and him taking charge and believing in him that they will be fight this creature. The scene moves on quickly on to the search at night with a long shot of them looking the dinosaur, this shows that they are determined to kill the dinosaur at any state, as it has cause a lot of harm to the city and the public. The non diegetic sound complements this as it shows they are strong willed in helping to defeat this dinosaur and it add the tension in which they start to search for this dinosaur. The next few frames shows a search team all out to find this dinosaur, the long shot of the mountain with helicopter allows the audience to be apart of this search by being shown where they are going. At the end of the trailer it blacks out and gives the title of the film, the font looks like it done with stone carved out of stone, but it make it seem memorable and becomes the main focus for the audience of knowing it being out.
