The trailer begins with the green screen explaining the audience restriction for the film and the trailer has been adapted to fit for all audience, as this will show a preview of the film as this will give the audience an insight of what the film is about. The genre of this film trailer is a horror film, the generic expectations for this horror film would include having a lot of dark lighting and scenes, some maybe based on a true story, it will include as such of a main protagonist who investigates this situation trying to resolve it, will also have a childhood history being involved and the location would usually be abandoned. having these expectations will scare the audience, through this experience, as some film will show an ordinary lifestyle, which the audience can relate to. The audience which are intended to watch this would be for both male and females aged between 16-30 because they maybe interested on how the protagonist who would be a similar age, to see what happens to them, also they may just want to watch the film just for a scare. Its important to have this in a trailer as it notifies the audience on who can watch the film as the age restriction shows the level of content that can be shown towards a certain age group.Then the trailer starts with an old childhood footage of a girl playing whilst being film, this allows to show a journal of her life during childhood, and the non diegetic sound of her father filming, suggests that he may know some idea of this ghost, as he keeps a journal recording all the moments of the child's life. The date and time shown at the corner allows the audience to know how old the footage is, showing when and the time in which the footage was film as this may be useful in future. This shows a convention of a horror film, as keeping an old childhood footage allows the audience to know the footage was made as this could be something they refer to, and also gives an insight of the family which the film will be focusing on.
Then the next few scenes shows some happy moments for the family as there more childhood scenes, having this allows the audience to gain more information about the family as they will be the main focus through the film. The old camera noises create tension for the audience, as it shows something bad will happen to them and it take along, with this ordinary family. With the old camera showing low quality footage, which will be used in the future, to show information about the family, and cuts out with the multicoloured lines suggesting that the quality of the camera and how old it is creates more tension as it shows the past of the family as they have lived a good life.

Then the camera cuts to show the year, as this sets the year for the audience to know about this specific year showing that something happened. Then the camera shows long shot of a bed room, where someone is being dragged into intentionally, with the immediate crashing storm noise complementing it as it shows how this ghost is haunted this family for revenge, with blue tint suggests that with the camera still filming it captures each moment creating tension on what may happen next, also the shadows can be seen better allowing it show where the ghost, and this allows the audience to get to know what happened to the family, through these chaos scenes. Then a women with her hair in front of her face, shown through a close up in front of the camera, suggesting that she may have been haunted by the ghost, and now is under it control. The fast pace editing allows to build suspense the family go through a rough time and this shows hints of the film, teasing the audience further making them more eager to watch the film.
Then the camera blacks out along with the non diegetic sound stops as well to show another bit of information saying "They disappeared", suggested that the family wasn't seen anymore after that night. Showing that night was left unsolved. Then we are shown another blue tinted screen with a mother and her child and the camera begins with a high angle suggesting that she is being control by someone, then does a cut to a close up of her expressions, looks like she has been possessed, and walks away with the non diegetic sound, with a child screaming, suggesting that this ghost is after all of them, but leaves the audience thinking on what it could be, which hints them more with the trailer. Then the camera cuts to show the release date informing the audience when the film will be out, having it in October, where Halloween happens, can allow the audience to watch it as part of a scare, as it will have link to the theme of it. Then we are shown a close up of a blond girl turning on the camera, suggesting a time change for the film, with the date and time shown, this allows the audience to be involved in what happens next, as it will keep them informed on what will happen next. This video journal will take the audience through her experience at the house as well, then the camera cuts to show every moment in the house, as it shows if anything unusual happens. This shows a convention of a horror film trailer as the camera showing old footage, along with some new footage, taking the audience with them on the protagonist experiences, so the audience can be involved in the film.

The next morning show a mid shot of the blond women talk about the unusual noises that she has experienced, a hollow cave noise, suggests that it builds suspension on this ghost which has been in this house, as starts to scare her, she tells her mum whats going, the camera cuts to a two shot of them as the mother doesn't seem interested and says there nothing like that. This scene shows an ordinary scene where the audience can relate to as the female protagonist seek comfort and advise but the mother doesn't seem interested as it she knows its not real. Then the scene blacks out to another statement, keeping the audience informed about the storyline. Then shows camera cuts to show a video chat with one of her friends, suggesting the close relationship allows them to share there worries and concerns to each other. Having the video chat show a modern convention of a horror film it create more tension as the protagonist shares there feeling over to someone else, but feel secure about telling them. Then as she explains her situation, and then a point of view shot is shown where there is child dressed in black standing outside suggesting that he may be possessed and be controlled by the ghost. This shows a childhood past relating to this film, which shows a convention of a horror film trailer as they will be based on a childhood past, or use children to scare other, as they are seen as innocent and helpless, so may not be aware of what is happening. Then the dialogue between the two friends talk about how creepy it to see the child outside, then the lighting turns black, suggesting it hints the protagonist and the audience that this child will have to do something with ghost, as it maybe controlling it to seek revenge for something.
Then the camera pan around back to the closeup, as she looks directly at the camera as she is talking to her friend and to the audience, saying "freaky right?!" suggesting it show an insight of what she is experience making the audience feel involved, as it allows them to show what she is seeing. The close up shows her not being as scared as she is getting use to it but wants to find out what is that is haunting her, the background is quite dark as the camera starts to show dysfunctional lines on the screen as she turns around to see anything is there and shows a low angle of her starting to feel scared and with these lines shows that these lines can cut the camera off at any point, as she looks around to see whats going on, keeping the camera close to her face, allowing the audience to get involved, showing her seeking comfort and security. As boy is asking questions, suggests that he being apart of the audience and ask about what she is experiencing. Then the camera starts flashing out to show the suspension of which something bad will happen to her as she is experiencing these unnatural thing. Then the non diegetic sound of a older women talking, suggesting she is being controlled by someone as it start to do things on it own, then in the background shows a silhouette of someone standing behind her and the camera quickly cuts as she turns around to see it, this builds tension for the audience and scares them as it shows the ghost being really close to her, wanting to know what will happen to her next, then cuts out to black. By having this show a convention of a horror film as the dark lighting suggests something mysterious will happen, giving an insight on the film, teasing them more to make them go and watch the film.
Then the title of the film is shown through a number 4 along with title which fades in and out suggesting it uses the them of old cameras, in film so having influence on that, with a black background suggest a dark, hidden past which has been recorded through an old family. Its important to have the title of the film in a trailer, as this allows the audience to know what the film is called and what series of the film, as there are a series of films showing different cases, so it shows that the audience can watch the others and keep updated the newer film series. Then cuts out like an old film tap where the lines shows the connection being cut off, suggesting that these camera footage will have these suggesting unfinished events, which leave the audience thinking about what may have happened next, so makes them eager to watch the film to find out.Then the trailer shows the release month for the film, giving the audience an idea of when it comes out, and has been placed at the center of the screen making it more memorable for the audience for when it comes out. Having the release date is an element for a trailer as this keeps the audience notified on when to watch the film. Below the date is the film website, allowing the audience to find out more about the film such as as other trailer, posters e.t.c and keep them update about what is going with the film.
