The trailer begins with the green screen with the audience restriction, as it states that there some sexual content shown, by having this is will restrict the audience type who can watch this film. This is important to have in a trailer as it establishes the audience who can watch this film, and this has been finalised by the film rating company, which makes it official to everyone about who can watch this film. The genre of this film trailer is a romance, attracting an audience for women/ girls aged between 17-19, as the film rating company has specified that under 17 should be accompanied by an adult. Having this age range allows to a young girls/ teenage going into adult perspective and her life as she goes through unexpected stages in which have a huge impact on her life and career. Also it will mostly appeal to women or teenage girls because stereotypically it would appear that women would be more interested in romance film as they would usually would be a male and female protagonist and a relationship which the audience will follow along with, by this the audience would get advice and it would increase there expectation on there own relationships.
The non diegetic sound begins with a banjo playing along with production titles appearing at the same time. The distribution company the film arcade, allows the audience to recognise who is promoting the film, to make it successful. By having a successful distributor company allows the film to be advertised well. The film arcade company is an independent distribution company found in 2012, distributing other films such as The afternoon delight (2013) and They came together (2014).
The next frame shows the German production and another distributing company, Constantin Films. Films such as The loss of a teardrop diamond (2009), suggests that having made previous romance films allows them to be more experience when it comes to distributing a other romance films as they will know from past experience what went well and what made Love Rosie a successful film.

The camera then cuts to a some more text giving the audience more information about the two protagonist, as it says that they have been friends since childhood, this suggests that they will have a strong connection as they have known each other for a while so they have built trust between each from early years. "CHILDHOOD" has been in capital letters and is outlined in bold, making it the focus of this film trailer giving more information about the protagonist which the audience should know about. The background used shows overlapped circles with the colours blue, purple and pink. The overlapped circles symbolises that there friendship will turn into a romantic relationship, slowly. The colours show gradually change as blue symbolises calm, and friendships, the purple in between signifies the slow change as the male protagonist starts to gain feeling for the female protagonist and the pink represents a romantic or start of a relationship which can soon happen.
This two shot which is shown in quite dark lighting with small white lighting on the globe which both the male and female protagonist point at, this shows the audience a bit of there past and how they were brought up together. The dark lighting with a small part of white lighting represents a small gradually move in there friendship which is then developed further as they grow older. During this scene the children are cheering suggesting they can do things together and making things work between them. Then the camera cuts to the children playing outside together, this suggests that the male and female protagonist are not separable because of how strong there friendship is between them is, and shows they did everything together back in there childhood. The lighting when they are playing together whilst on the bouncy hoppers, its very bright connoting and happy cheerful moment in there friendship. The camera then cuts to the next shot where it shows another bit of text introducing the names of the male and female protagonist names. Having there the Rosie's names in bold and is placed first as it shows the significance of her as it looks like she will go through a dramatic change which will cause her to start making changes in her friendship with Alex. The camera then cuts to a scene where both the protagonist are getting ready for a party as Rosie asks for Alex's advice, so seeking advice about appearance , which usually would asked to another girl as they would be able to give more advice, but with there friendship they can treat each other the same as they would if they had same sex friends.
The camera then blurs out Rosie as the camera focuses on Alex, as it focus on his expression as it suggests he gives his advice and answer to Rosie question, by doing this would reassure her and gives her a boast her self confidence. However Alex just tilts his head, suggesting that it looks like Rosie is trying too hard to be impressing someone. There costume looks like they are going somewhere more formal, as Alex is wearing a suit, which may show they maybe going to a ball/party as they dress up for the occasion. The camera then cuts then shows another title saying " Have been bestfriends" suggests that they have known each for a while and have built a strong connection which is unbreakable due to the length of time they have been together. The camera then cuts to a close up and does the opposite and now blurs out the female protagonist and focuses on the Alex's expression, showing are more protective side to him as he starts to ask whether its for dancing or just to attract more men. But by his expression he seem conscience of her showing that someone else may get with her and it will make him seem jealous, and his jealousy has been shown through him stumbling through his word as he doesn't want to mention it, as hes scared of her noticing that he may have started to develop feeling for her. The audience may side with the male protagonist as they may want him to express his feeling quickly and would want him to do it quick so he doesn't miss his chance.
The next frame shows more about who created the storyline. The author of P.S I love you, Cecelina Ahern is a writer, who wrote the successful book P.S I love you, which had No. 1 best seller for 19 weeks in Ireland. This shows that having other books which were success and having her book, Love Rosie be turned into a film will to attract more audiences as some may have read the film, and will combine with new audience as the trailer will reveal the first few parts teasing the audience, as it will intrigue them to know more about the film, so may end up watching the film to watch to find out.
A long shot has been shown to establish the setting which the party takes place, it looks like a large palace/house where a lot of people they know will be there for a celebration. The lighting is a quite saturated near the house but it bright, with outside becoming darker as this may connote something may happen to one of the protagonist, which may have an affect on there friendship. The camera pans upwards towards a high angle revealing the popularity of coming to this party. The audience may relate to this as they may have experience going to a party with people of there own friends and going due to popularity of it as well. The non diegetic sound starts to add singing saying "having the feeling" suggesting that they are at there teenage stages so they want to experience everything whilst being young. and continues and then we cut to a scene where they both dancing with other people.
Shot reverse shot is shown of them glancing at each other connoting a caring side from both of them towards each other. The lighting is quite dark which reflects that they may not seem right if they are not together, with the point of view shot it allows to show both of there perspective and making them seem quite protective over one another. The audience may see this the two protagonist as quite defensive as not being together, suggesting that they are very close, which shows signs of a relationship between them.
We then fade to the next scene where the two protagonist spending time together and the male protagonist gives advice about getting away and then we are shown a close up shot of the female protagonist as she just takes what Alex says as a joke, what understands where he coming from as a perspective. By having this it allows to show they have a strong bond bond between each other as they can share any worries they may have. The trailer then shows another piece of information which shows an element which makes there friendship saying "sometimes the right love" suggesting that there different types of love which these to go through, the phase is shown bold as its something for the audience to look out as there different types of love they will experience whether they are in a relationship or friendship. This shows the convention of a romance film trailer as it will show different types of love which show the stages of building a relationship, so the audience can follow along to see how that is formed.
The camera then cuts a high angle, establishing shot of a row of houses suggesting there more middle/working class people, and see education as an important thing. We the cut to a shot reverse shot in a coffee shop with the two protagonist as the male protagonist shares some new about a scholarship, and we are shown a over the shoulder shot of the female protagonist reading the letter. The lighting is bright suggesting a good opportunity for Alex to continue further with his career. The female protagonist expression seems surprised as this is something that will change her friend's career, she then even mentions it, the camera them cuts to a close to show the female protagonist expression as she knows that he will be leaving soon, and suggests that she may have not heard from any places she may have want to do to further her career, hearing this makes her seem shock knowing that they will have to separate soon. The camera then fades to another screen introducing more information about the film saying "Happens at the wrong time" suggests that something big will happen and will affect the male and female protagonist's friendship and may happen very unexpectedly, as it may result in them separating.
A long shot is used to show the leaving scene between the two protagonists, as the two protagonist hug, and shows there last few moments before they start to separate, as this would make the audience sympathise for them as it shows the difficulties of leaving a long term friendship as they have spent most of there time together. The camera starts to show the width of distance on each of side of the protagonist as the male protagonist has more width as distance on his side connoting that he will be travelling more further away from the female protagonist, and the female protagonist has shorter distance on her side showing that something has affected her life which shows that she may have to remain where she is showing a more lower class role which she may take on. The camera then cuts to close up shot of both of them in a intimate close scene where they have urge to kiss and the camera fades, and becomes voided. This shows part of a convention of romance film trailer as it shows, as it starts to hint more slow intimate scenes as this would usually build up to a relationship, and this is something the audience to watch to find out more of what happens next. The non diegetic sound starts to tone down as they have there last moments together, which starts to a distant relationship starting to occur between them. Then the male protagonist back away, feeling anxious about expressing his feelings, shot reverse shot is shown as the female protagonist asks to keep in touch and the male protagonist nods, suggesting that she doesn't want to lose her connection with him, and wants to keep there friendship going since they are separating for the first time. The camera then cuts to different shots of travelling such as a plane leaving, the non diegetic sound changes to more drum beat, showing a more uplifting mood, so it suggests that its a fresh start for both protagonists, as they have now separated and now are doing different things.
A low angle shot is shown of another character introduced into the film and it shows of the female protagonist's school friends, who is now a model, this shows a huge career jump for her, having the low angle shows from perspective of the audience and the female protagonist as it shows that her friend's job as model has increased he status, her expressions shows shock as he sees Rosie working as a cleaner, showing a huge difference in there career. Then the camera cuts to a magazine where it shows her friend modelling and she gives her an insight to her career, with all these dates that she has next for her next shoot, this makes the Rosie feel bad as her career isn't as busy. Then as they are talking Rosie suggests she look for Alex, so it allows someone to be in his life as they have separated. then the camera cuts a another screen saying "when moving on with your life" suggests that its shows ways in which both the protagonist do different thing to take there mind off there friendship. This would make the audience feel anxious as they may want these two to be together but the protagonist separation as made it harder and would make them more intrigued in watching the film to find out how they reunite. We then cut to an introduction to another man who starts to flirt with the female protagonist, and this start to enlighten the her by her expression as it shows a step of her moving on in life.
The camera shows a three shot of her and her child and her new friend spending tome together, it shows a more cheerful as she mentions about how it feels good with him as it has given her an uplift with confidence with her life. The voice over of the female protagonist says that she is tired of waiting for the male protagonist to get back to her, so her way of finding someone new would make help her move on. Then the camera shows a shot reverse shot of the meeting of both the protagonist as Alex comes back to see her and seem really happy, but yet shocked to him as it has been a long time since they have been together. Then both the protagonists and the new guy spend some time together and Alex gives her advice about him saying that she should be with him, from his perspective it shows that he is good guy and she should take that advice as she can still trust him as friend. Then cuts to a skype session where the female protagonists friend is getting married with Alex, and this makes Rosie, feel upset and uneasy, and the audience start to side with her as they want to see Alex and Rosie reunite and would want to be together, and this shows a convention as the audience have set view that they want the male and female protagonist to meet and be together.
The camera shows a different scene introducing another women who looks like has helps the female protagonist through a lot, as she knows a lot about her past. The dialogue starts off with her saying that she looks up the female protagonist and it puts everything in to her perspective as the hard work she has gone through the achieve this far to there career. Then it turns into a voice over where it shows ways in which the female protagonist has done things to achieve a standard living, which makes the audience side with her as she has gone through to come this far. Then we are shown different clips where it shows both the protagonists separate lives with different people and the female protagonist realises this that she has developed feelings for him and this is shown through the voice over and shows hows she is trying to run and look for him and we are then shown, and then we see a reunion of both the protagonists as they feel they cant be separated at all and without each other they don't feel happy about themselves. A high angle shot shows the female protagonist saying her last few word that she will love him, having this angle will allow her to express her feels towards him without feeling conscience about it.
The trailer then ends with the title of the film as it important that the audience are fully ware if the title as it will give a lot of hints on why the film is called that due to the book adaptation. The font used is in capitals with the Rosie outlined in bold suggests that the audience will be focusing on her and her life story, and the male protagonist will develop romantic feelings for her and will keep them a secret, which is shown through the word "love" being not in bold which shows a hidden aspect to him which wont be revealed until the end until both the protagonist will get back together as a couple. This adheres to the expectation of romance film trailer as it will show a way in which the male and female protagonist will meet and will fall in love with each other. The next frame shows the date released of the film as this will alert the audience of when it comes out and is also enlarged and in bold so it becomes the centre of there attention when it comes to watching the film.
Then we are shown the production titles showing who made the film this allows the audience to be known of who created the film as there maybe successful producers who made the film, however being in small font, places less attention on it so it may not be something the audience would be focusing on, but its important to have the production titles for acknowledgement.
