The titles then fades into the next shots introducing the female protagonist voice over, and a long shot of the location as the camera slowly zooms in, then fades to black. Having all of these combined allows the audience to get an insight of where the film is set, which is shown in a city, but with voiceover saying "100 years ago, after the war" with small cuts of the setting allows to show change in time and so the film will be shown in more of modern society where the old rules that applied years ago, still occurring now in the film. Having the voiceover allows to show a history of what the protagonist has gone through, giving an insight to the audience about more about the main protagonist, start to give hints about her so it will start to intrigue them to watch the film. The colours in the setting are oranges, yellows and white, this shows that it starts the trailer off as peaceful and calm along with the sky being quite dark with the dark clouds, which denotes strength and authority, which connotes to someone taking charge and lead of this city. The camera zooming takes the audience in with the trailer making them feel apart of the trailer. A High angle shot has been used to shows the innocence of other people in the city, who are standing in a line, with a colour group. This shows there is a division of different types of people and there beliefs. As they are walking in to line, this shows that they all may have individual leader who control them. The high angle shot also represents that these people have no control over what they do as they have someone telling them what to do. The voiceover continues as she takes the audience through with what is going on. Then fades into black for a few second leaving the audience intrigues of why they are in that position.A close up shot has been used to introduce the female protagonist, her facial expression shown, presents that she is not happy about how thing are going as she has been controlled by place or leader. Having her hair tied back represents formality as they all have certain dress code with there factions. The lighting shown is most darker towards her face, and small amount of it is from the corner of her face, this connotes that she has restricted freedom on where she can go with little bright shown, suggesting that she is trapped. The camera fades the two guys in the background and makes the female protagonist stand out, as this allows the audience to recognise who is the main protagonist is so they will have someone to focus on. This flouts the conventions of a actions genre trailer, being typically it will show a strong male protagonist going thorough this and being the main focus rather than the female. The camera then turns and to a point of view of view shot of the rest of the crowd who are in the building. This allows the camera to follow along with protagonist from there point of view as the voiceover continuous to introduce aspects of the film. and starts to track the different coloured groups which people have been placed in. This allows to show a division in which will show how they want to get peace in the world, each colour represents peace in it own way in this trailer, so there are certain beliefs. The camera then quickly fades into a birds eye view of everyone sat down and listening to a leader who is dressed in black, connoting that she hold a lot of power and authority over everyone else. The voice over stops and the non degetic sound, sounds very controlling and powerful as it is quite repetitive throughout the whole trailer. The women dressed in black wearing a suit, connoting that she hold a lot of power than anyone else, is shown in a medium shot, with the camera being on one side of the 180 degree on the left side at about 30 degrees from the side, This allows to show from a point of view shot of one of the people sitting in the crowd, the tone of voice the women uses make her seem very powerful and manipulating towards the others. She starts to talk about what they have to do, then the camera then cuts to the female protagonist and her mother, and closeup of them holding hands, connotes that she is giving her protection and sympathy to to her daughter, knowing that the next thing that will happen will test them physically in there strength.
Then the female protagonist voice over comes back to her talking about what happens on a her day to day life, giving the audience an insight of what of what happens and getting small hints of what its like in her life. The voice over allows to take the audience on a personal level in which starts to build a trusting relationship with the audience as she introduces everything that happens in the film as it will make the audience feel apart of the trailer, and having this will make them more intrigued in knowing more about this film. The camera fades quickly in next two/three shots where, it shows different shots of the female protagonist along with the voice over showing her individual perspective on everything with a close up and a low angle showing that she is going be different compared to everyone else. We then get a close up shot of the man with a sturn, angry facial expression and this represents a stereotypical side of a man as he is showing no emotion and fearless when he tells everyone to start separate from there families. The camera then fades to show the relationship of between the female protagonist and her family as they say good bye, medium shots have been use mostly until a low angle has been use used to show the whole family leaving each other. This shows a more comforting and emotional time for her family as they are separating to be on there own, this shows that the separation has been cause by someone, as they have control of them.
Shot reverse shot has been to show the conversation between the female protagonist and her mother, saying "Are you nervous" and the female protagonist with a close up says with some confidence that she is, the non-diegetic sound becomes more sharp with her response, showing that she has less confidence and has been shown through her facial expression. But her response, "No" and the the camera blackouts and the voice over says " I'm terrified" This shows that she hidden with her emotions and feelings, so hiding away from her parents as she know that it can upset them. By having this in the trailer on a black screen will show her hidden weakness, within a a dark screen. Then there is flash of long shots and then close ups of the location in which shows different obstacles which she will face throughout the film and shows a close up of female protagonist in a dark lighting, connoting a challenging phase that she will go through, that will put her in danger, along with the music become more intense as she start to complete some of the obstacles. The camera starts to flash more quickly as someone injects her with an injection, connoting that this injection holds a lot of power and control over a lot of people. Then the blacks lasts for a few seconds, suggesting that the audience get to be apart of the trailer when being injected, putting the female protagonist into another world where she will be challenged to do a particular task.
Then cut to a medium shot of the female protagonist looking at a reflection of her self and the non diegetic sound become more sharp and high pitched, connoting she is on her own without no help. we then cut to a low angle shot, showing that the reflection of her self has multiplied to show an army, and the female protagonist looking around, with the yellow, saturated lighting, suggesting energy and tension of danger that can occur during this event. This gives the audience a big hint, making them more intrigued about what may happen to her next. Then we are shown then shown the fight scene with the female protagonist and the dog, the non diegetic sound becomes more intense as they start to fight and more deep connoting an energetic and fierce moment building tension for the audience about what may happen. This conforms to the convention of a action film as there is some sort of dramatic moment with a fight scene, which is something the audience should expect when watching the film. Then we get a side angle of the female protagonist jumping over the dog, which seemed like she got over a fiere she had. Then she jumped on the dog and they faded into back into blur of her asleep, and showed a lightening and flashing causing her to wake up suddenly back in the black stadium. Then faded into black, the dialogue "Your results were inconclusive" suggesting that the assessment as she turns out to be different to everyone else, and the black screen connotes that its something that will become a secret, which only the audience will know as the few seconds with the blackouts allows the audience to know as a secret creating dramatic irony.
The over the shoulder shot shown from the female protagonists point of view, shows the audience a closeup of the other women's reaction, as she has been represented as strong and confident, knowing that the female protagonist is something rare and extraordinary that she is different from the rest. Her facial expressions look as if she looks up to her as well. This allows the audience to find out more about the protagonist as this will be something that will make her stand out from the crowd. The lighting is darker on the other women's face as this may suggest her shock of finding out about the what the protagonist is. However its more lighting is more lighter with the shot reverse shot establishing there relationship, as there may be a more positive light. This suggests that the female protagonist may get treated differently from the others, knowing that she is different. The diegetic sound of the dialogue of the women saying "You are divergent" suggests that she something that is rare to be seen from her perspective.
After the camera cuts to another title, outline another way of promoting the film to current fans of the book, alerting them about the film. "based on the worldwide bestseller" allows to outline more positive aspects of the film. By this is will attract more fan due to the popularity of the book now knowing the increase in interest from the book to the film, by this it will broaden the audiences through knowing about the film adaptation from the well known book series. The font is varied in sized as the "worldwide bestseller" is in capital letters and is bigger and bolder with a silver, shiny font. Having the bigger font gives it more importance and more self centred for the audience to recognise. The composition of the word have been placed at the centre, allowing the audience to catch there attention. The shiny font gives the over appearance as it shows something that has a lot of value placed on it as it's a very popular book and was very successful.
The medium shot of the the female protagonist's mother, immediately gives the audience another side of the mother and give a more stronger side to her. This subverts to the stereotypes of how women are represented, as before it showed a more comforting and emotional side but now knowing this secret she show a more bright and confident side to her as she know this secret is out to only a few people, making her look more powerful and with her facial expressions and her neck muscles were more tense know that she is more powerful and has more authority over everyone else.
Shot reverse shot has been used to introduce the male protagonist shown through a medium shot, with a dark setting but with shadow lighting in the dark setting suggests that there will be close connection between the male and female protagonist as they will share something in common which they may need to keep a secret. The appearance of the male protagonist conforms to the stereotypes of representation of gender as this would attract the female audience as he has been represented as strong, fiereless The camera blurs the female protagonist, in order to introduce the new male protagonist, making him look more vivid and prominent to the audience. The effect this has on the audience is that it makes him seem heroic with white lights enhancing the highlights of his face, which infers that this new heroic protagonist is the light and shows the positivity of the darkness.
The scene cuts to a black screen and it introduces the date release of the film. "march 21" has been enlarged making it look more bold so that would attract the audience on knowing when the film is out. Having the text at the centre of the frame allows the audience to catch there attention as this information is important to them as this will allow them to know when to go and watch it. The diegetic sound which also complements this frame for a few seconds as it of people screaming for help, this allows the audience to be more intrigued in knowing what might happen next to these people. The camera then follows the female protagonist, allowing the audience to follow along with the different obstacles she faces and these have shot moment which cut quickly between each other, teasing the audience about what happens during the film. A small scene which flashes of the male and female protagonist in an more intimate scene which shows that there small secret has brought them close together and the non diegetic sound becomes more fast pace and intense and more and more people start to find out about the secret and try to take action. This would make the audience more intrigued to know how and why they find out.
A high angle shot gives the audience and insight what they two main protagonist get up to, as they go through different obstacles and fights in order to find peace, diegetic sound include trains and cars. This shows that this fast pace music allows to starts building more tension as they do there best to protect themselves and the others, as the next scene cuts to the crowd holding the female protagonist, and cheering for her. This shows that the crowd now have someone to trust and now seek safety from her, knowing that's she is quite powerful.
The voice over of the female protagonist comes back but with a more stronger statement , revealing a string side to her and this is shown this her facial expressions as she doesn't seem afraid anymore, now that more people have found out, Then we see different activities including the knife throwing and the water tank, she gets through quite quickly, and the editing continuous to be fast pace with the series of cross cutting, This allows the audience to get a sense of what is going around, with editing short and intriguing for them to watch. The lighting becomes more brighter as the female protagonist states that she is not scared of anyone any more. This shows that her unique ability has given her more strength and power. This conforms to the conventions to a action trailer, as there should be a lot of fast pace editing with a lot of action such as fighting and battling obstacles in order to find protection , so this is something that the audience have to look to when watching the film.

Lastly the trailer finishes on a cliff hanger, for the audience to continue when watching the full film. The trailer ends with the title of the film. The title has been placed at the front of the film making it seem more alert and attractive to the audience. The large, silver, capital letters used on the title symbolises that the film will be more sophisticated, high tech and more modern, as the trailer shows a lot of aspects of it through with the different obstacles the female protagonist goes through, also with the female protagonist being more strong and powerful, gives a modern element to the film as it unusual for the female protagonist to take lead an action film. The blue line and the rings in the background, represent peace, confidence and intelligence which the film will show as how the female protagonist will face different situations and be fearless as she has these unique powers which will be something that audience will be focusing on as she will build confidence throughout the film.
